Confirmation

Confirmation

The Rite of Confirmation is celebrated on Reformation Sunday each year that we have youth ready to be confirmed.  Confirmation is the act of affirming one’s Baptism (especially if one was baptized as an infant) and becoming an adult member of the congregation.  Our Confirmation program at Abiding Presence is three years long, for youth in 6th-8th grade.  The class meets September through May weekly (except for weeks when the Rochester Community Schools are on break.)  Each one of the three years of instruction focus on three topics in turn: Old Testament, New Testament, and Luther’s Small Catechism.  In preparation for the Rite of Confirmation the youth meet with Pastor Sharon in the fall of the 9th grade year to prepare a statement of faith that is presented on the evening before Reformation Sunday.

  • Camino on Zoom

    April 8, 2020  10:00 am - 11:00 am

Join us for Camino on Zoom Wednesdays at 10 am and 7 pm, starting, April 1st. Camino is the word for 'way' in Spanish. Early Christians were called people of The Way (of Jesus Christ). 'Camino' often refers to the Camino de Santiago or the Way of St. James, a pilgrimage route in Spain that concludes in the city of Santiago de Compostela. Camino also refers to variations on pilgrimages of the Way of St. James, and in the Christian tradition refers to a spiritual journey of uncertain endings.

As a world community we have not faced a pandemic in over a century. As those who are sheltering at home, this is an unfamiliar way for us to live. Being isolated at home, and advised to keep a distance of six feet between us and others, this time is a new journey for each of us and an opportunity to ask ourselves how will we be changed by this experience.

To give us a chance to check in with each other and be mindful of this new time as an opportunity to grow in faith, we are offering a time for us to gather. We will check in, share our joys and struggles of sheltering in place, and pray together.

Join Camino on Wednesdays at 10 am or 7 pm.
