Sermons at Abiding Presence are based on the the readings from scripture that day. These readings come from the Revised Common Lectionary.

As Lutherans we believe that God is present to us in the words of scripture and in the living Word who is Jesus.  Sermons are intended to help us behold the living Word of God in our lives as we encounter God speaking to us through scripture.  Sermons also help us to more clearly understand scriptural passages and respond to the good news through our own particular life experiences and congregational life.  Ideally a sermon is a ‘trialog’— God, congregation members and the preacher in conversation together.

Children’s Sermons

The Pastor or lay members provide a discussion with children based on the scripture readings for the day at each worship service just after the readings and before the pastor’s sermon. The children then collect change from the congregation for the Noisy Offering to donate to a charity that they have chosen.
