A New Outreach Adventure

“Bound Together”…a program in Pontiac that strives to bring loving support to children and families living in poverty has come to the attention of our Caring for Others ministry.  We invite all our members to read on and reach out.
Twenty five elementary school students come to Bound Together on Monday through Thursday after their school day.  They receive one on one tutoring to help them develop academically and a nutritious meal for supper.  The families have incomes below $22,000 a year and struggle to provide for their children.  We think we can help.
Some of our members have participated in the past and have brought this service opportunity to our attention.  There are several ways to help.
  • Tutor 1 child for 1 hour per week from 4:30 to 5:30 Tues, Wed. or Thurs . Lessons prepared for you.  Open to h.s. students to adults.
  • Serve a prepared meal to the students 1 day a month 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs.  Need  2 adults. Younger children might help.
  • Learn more and support with donations of operating funds or holiday parties.
Bound Together is housed at All Saints Church at 146 Pike Street, Pontiac, a 15 to 20 min. drive from AP.  We will be hearing more from Jane Porter, Director in early October.  However, if you would be interested in tutoring, there is an orientation on September 6th, but also available at a later date. Questions may be directed to Jennifer Berwick or Ginger Ketelsen.  Information is available on the Kiosk or Here.
