With support from the AP Board, we are moving ahead to fill the position of a Director of Music. While we have been ably served by both an organist and choir director for the past 20 and 7 years respectively, there remain gaps in certain areas of each defined job description. Over the winter months we also engaged in a survey and mutual discussion about making our use of contemporary and global music stronger. Strengthening this area of our worship life would also include adding appropriate percussion for some of the music we use in worship. It is an expanded position of approximately 25 hours a week and the person(s) who fill this role will be responsible for more in depth worship planning for each of the seasons of the church year. We welcome our current musicians to apply for this position (continuing a shared ministry with these added responsibilities), and the position has been posted with Oakland University, University of Michigan and Wayne State University, as well as with our Southeast Michigan Synod. We hope to have this position filled in time to adequately plan for our worship in the fall, which will include the observance of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
