We will gather as a faith community for the Great Three Days as we observe as one continuous service of worship the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. All three services begin at 7:30 pm.
Maundy Thursday – April 13, 2017
This service remembers Jesus washing the feet of the disciples and the giving of the Lord’s Supper in the upper room. The service ends with the stripping of the altar and Psalm 22. We depart in silence.
Good Friday – April 14, 2017
We gather as if at the foot of the cross to witness the suffering and death of the Son of God. In scripture, hymns and prayer we honor the One who bore the sin of us all.
The Great Vigil of Easter – April 15, 2017
This service takes us from the grief of Good Friday into the joy of Jesus’ resurrection through four movements. We begin outside with the striking of the new fire and the lighting of the Paschal Candle. We listen to our faith history in excerpts from the Old Testament. We are renewed in our baptism around the font. Finally we are ushered into the day of Resurrection as the first Easter gospel is read and we feast on the Lord’s Supper. This is a dramatic service that reveals once more that God indeed brings life out of death for all of creation.
Our Easter joy continues on The Day of Resurrection, Easter Sunday with festival worship at 9:30 am. We sing our praise that Christ is risen as he said with brass and choir leading us in a service of Holy Communion.
Make plans now to take part in each of these opportunities to worship on the days of most importance in the year of faith. We join Christians around the world keeping vigil with Jesus and celebrating his resurrection.
